For 2012, the Lotus Evora undergoes numerous changes. A supercharged Evora S was added halfway through the 2011 model year and continues into 2012. A new Intelligent Precision Shift (IPS) six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters is available on the Evora, while the previous standard-ratio six-speed manual transmission is replaced with a close-ratio unit. A new exhaust system provides a better note, and there are new designs to several of the trim items.
The Evora uses a mid-mounted 3.5-litre V6 engine, sourced from Toyota and tuned by Lotus, which is naturally-aspirated in the Evora and supercharged in the Evora S. Both use a six-speed manual transmission which can be optioned to the Intelligent Precision Shift six-speed automatic transmission in the Evora.
Both models can be ordered as a 2+2 with two small rear seats, or with a luggage compartment in place of them.
Features include 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, heated mirrors, touch-screen multi-media system, “floating” rear wing, leather Recaro sport seats with manual adjustment, leather upper door trim panels, flat-bottomed leather and magnesium tilt and telescopic steering wheel, power windows, brake assist, electronic brake force distribution, shift indicator light, keyless entry, trip computer, and CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input and iPod interface.
