Ram, fresh off of being separated into its own brand not long ago, brings some much needed improvements to the 1500 series light-duty full-size pickup. Aside from a full exterior and interior refresh, Chrysler’s new 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 makes its way under the hood, along with an optional eight-speed automatic transmission sourced from ZF. An all-new industry-first four-wheel air suspension is also introduced to the 1500.

The Ram 1500 is available as a Regular Cab with 8-foot or 6-foot-4 bed; as a Quad Cab with 6-foot-4 inch bed; and as a Crew Cab with 5-foot-7 bed. Eight trim levels are available: ST, SXT, SLT, Outdoorsman, Big Horn, Sport, Laramie, and Laramie Longhorn.

Features on the ST include 17-inch steel wheels, heavy duty vinyl 40/20/40 split bench seat, black grille with black hex-link insert, black bumpers, air conditioning with speed control, Uconnect 3.0 media centre, power windows and door locks (Quad/Crew), automatic halogen quad headlamps, airbags (front, front seat, side curtain), coil spring rear suspension, and 7- and 4-pin trailer wiring harness.

SXT adds cloth 40/20/40 split bench seat, chrome grille with black hex-link insert, chrome bumpers, 17-inch silver aluminum wheels, remote keyless entry, and satellite radio.

SLT adds body-colour and chrome door handles, overhead console, premium door trim with map pocket, rear power sliding window (Quad/Crew), temperature and compass gauges, and traveller and mini trip computer.

Outdoorsman adds body-colour grille, lower two-tone paint, painted bumpers and fender flares, rear extra heavy duty shock absorbers, fog lamps and tow hooks, transfer case and front suspension skid plate (4×4), anti-spin differential rear axle (4×4), and Class IV receiver hitch (4×4).

Big Horn adds (to SLT) 20-inch chrome wheels, chrome grille with chrome millets, premium 7-inch Multiview display information centre, Mopar chrome tubular side steps, power-folding chrome heated mirrors, fog lamps and dual rear exhaust with bright tips, Uconnect 5.0 media centre, and electronic shift-on-demand transfer case (4×4).

Sport adds (to SLT) 20-inch polished aluminum wheels (Quad/Crew), body-colour grille with bright billets (Quad/Crew), body-colour front fascia and rear bumper, body-colour power folding heated mirrors, premium projector headlamps with black surround, fog lamps and dual rear exhaust with sport rumble, cloth bucket seats and full length floor console, LED interior lighting, power 10-way driver’s seat with power lumbar, and Uconnect 8.4A media centre.

Laramie adds (to Sport) chrome bumpers/mirrors/grille with hex-perforated insert, lower tow-tone paint and fender flares in bright silver metallic, body-colour/chrome door handles, dual rear exhaust with bright tips, premium LED taillamps with chrome surround, leather-faced heated and ventilated 40/20/40 bench seat, automatic dual-zone climate control, deluxe door trim panel and instrument panel woodgrain bezel, power 10-way driver memory seat, power 6-way front passenger seat, security alarm, heated steering wheel, nine amplified speaker system with subwoofer, and ParkView rear backup camera.

Laramie Longhorn adds premium leather bucket seats with laser etching, lower tow-tone fascias and fender flares in white gold metallic, 20-inch chrome clad wheels, chrome grille with chrome wave mesh, premium door trim panel and full length floor console, premium instrument cluster and interior accents, heated 2nd row seats, Uconnect 8.4AN media centre, premium leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, Park-Sense rear park assist system, and factory installed remote starter and spray-in bedliner.
