For 2010, the Mazda CX-9 receives a styling refresh that brings its appearance in line with other Mazda products, along with several new standard features: active front head restraints and tire pressure monitoring system, and two-stage heated front seats and rear A/C display. The GT adds a new premium stereo, blind spot monitoring system, rearview camera and Bluetooth, while the Luxury Package on the GS AWD adds a powerful sunroof, leather upholstery and power passenger seat. The available Navigation Package now adds a power tailgate as well.
Although its styling resembles that of the CX-7, it is a separate vehicle, using a Mazda6-derived platform shared with the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX. It uses a 3.7-litre V6 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual mode. The GS trim line comes in front- or all-wheel drive, while the GT is all-wheel only; the all-wheel drive is an active torque split system that runs primarily in front-wheel drive but transfers power to the rear wheels when required. All models have three rows of seats.
Features on the GS include 18-inch alloy wheels, three-zone climate control, tire pressure monitoring system, automatic headlamps, heated mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, intermittent rear wiper, rear privacy glass, cruise control, keyless entry, power windows, auto-dimming rearview mirror, garage door opener, piano black interior trim, heated cloth seats, eight-way power driver’s adjustment, 60/40 split-folding second-row seat, 50/50 split-folding third-row seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, electroluminescent gauges, floor mats, trip computer, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input, Bluetooth connectivity, and towing package.
The GT adds 20-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlamps with manual levelling, fog lights, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, blind spot monitoring system, intelligent key system with pushbutton start, wood finish interior trim, four-way power passenger seat, driver’s side memory, leather upholstery, six-CD/MP3 Bose stereo, Bluetooth with Audio Profile, Sirius satellite radio, and audio display screen.
