For 2009, the Audi A6 and S6 models are redesigned, including a new supercharged 3.0-litre V6 that makes 300 horsepower, and a new 40/60 asymmetric rear-biased Quattro all-wheel drive system. Other changes include new front and rear lighting, bumper and grille design; LED daytime running lights and side mirror lighting; new wheels; upgraded suspension; and interior design updates. Specific trim levels also receive new standard features. Configuration also changes: the Avant station wagon, previously only available with the 3.2-litre V6, now comes only with the new 3.0-litre V6, while the 3.2 sedan, previously with Quattro all-wheel drive, now comes in front-wheel drive only, and with a continuously variable transmission.
The A6 is available with a choice of three engines: a 3.2-litre V6 with front-wheel drive, in sedan configuration; the new supercharged 3.0 V6 with Quattro, in sedan or Avant; and 4.2-litre V8 with Quattro, as a sedan. The S6 comes as a sedan and uses a 5.2-litre V10 with Quattro. The 3.2 FrontTrak uses a CVT, while all other models use a six-speed automatic with manual shift mode.
Features on the 3.2 FrontTrak sedan include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic headlamps with washers, rain-sensing wipers, front and rear fog lamps, LED taillights, keyless entry, backup alarm, cruise control, Bluetooth preparation, heated mirrors with reverse tip-down, cruise control, leather-wrapped multifunction wheel, twelve-way power heated leather seats, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, genuine wood trim accents, floor mats, Multi-Media Interface (MMI) with seven-inch screen, six-CD stereo with Sirius satellite radio, and driver information centre.
The 3.2 Premium Sedan adds bi-xenon headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, parking system with rearview camera, power-adjustable tilt and telescopic heated wheel, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, driver’s side memory, heated rear seats, and iPod interface.
The 3.0 sedan builds on the 3.2 sedan and adds bi-xenon headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, power tilt and telescopic wheel, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, and driver’s side memory.
The 3.0 Avant is similar equipped to the sedan, but adds 18-inch alloy wheels, power liftgate, cargo net, cargo cover, tie-down rail system, and parking system with rearview camera.
The 3.0 Premium Sedan builds on the 3.0 sedan and adds adaptive headlights, cornering lights, garage door opener, pushbutton start, Audi Side Assist, parking system with rearview camera, and heated rear seats.
The 4.2 sedan adds 18-inch alloy wheels, 13-speaker Bose audio system, and navigation system with voice recognition.
