NEW FOR 2008:

– Standard Lincoln Sync
– Voice activation added to navigation system
– New Limited Edition Package and Monochrome Limited Edition Package

Now in its second year, the Lincoln MKX receives upgrades to its list of standard and optional features, including Lincoln Sync, which allows a driver to use voice commands to activate cellular telephones and auxiliary music players.

A version of the Ford Edge, the Lincoln MKX uses a 3.5-litre V6 engine with six-speed automatic transmission, and is available in front- or all-wheel drive.

Standard features include 18-inch aluminum wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-trimmed heated and cooled front seats with 10-way power and memory, 60/40 split-folding reclining heated rear seats with EasyFold rear seatback release, front centre console, genuine wood accents, six-CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary jack and SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Lincoln Sync, overhead console, four power points, rear cargo management system, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, leather-wrapped tilt and telescopic steering wheel, cruise control, message centre, garage door opener, spoiler, fog lamps, heated mirrors with security approach lamps, memory and driver’s-side auto-dimming, power liftgate, automatic headlamps, reverse sensing system, privacy glass, anti-theft alarm, power locks with keyless entry and illuminated keypad, and tire pressure monitoring system.

Available options include a Class II trailer tow package. The new Limited Edition Package includes etched Lincoln stars in the headlamp lenses, 20-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels, premium leather-trimmed seats and floor mats, ebony carpet and chrome door handles. The Monochrome Limited Package adds the Limited’s features, but with a monochromatic body-colour grille; it’s only available with Black exterior.

Like the Edge, the Lincoln MKX is roomy and comfortable, for both front- and rear-seat passengers; performance is good, and the ride is smooth and quiet. The price rises considerably over its Ford sibling, but there are a lot of extra luxury touches for the money.
