For 2007, the Lamborghini Gallardo Coupe and Spyder receive minor enhancements. There’s a new Lamborghini Multimedia System of CD changer, MP3 player and radio, and a non-smoking version where the cigarette lighter is replaced by a 12V socket. On the interior, Arancio Leonis (orange) leather replaces Mira, while Rosso Centaurus (red) replaces Rosso Mysia (red); on the outside, Rosso Leto replaces Rosso Metis (red), Nero Serapis replaces Nero Osyris (black), and there are three new colours, Verde Faunus (green), Blu Fontus (blue) and Grigio Proteus (grey).

New optional packages include a Branding Package of Lamborghini script on the dashboard, head restraints, and wheels; a Travel Package of a storage box, storage nets and cup holder; a Winter Package of heated mirrors, seats and washer nozzles, black carpet, winter tires and 12V socket; a package of new Callisto wheels, racing steering wheel, racing steering and suspension; and a new “Privilege Programme” with a range of customized options.

Named for a breed of fighting bull, the Gallardo is based on an alloy space frame built by parent company Audi. It’s powered by a 5.0-litre V10 mated to a six-speed manual transmission, and features permanent all-wheel drive that has a normal bias of 30-70 front to rear; during acceleration, it transfers 80 per cent to the rear, and will distribute torque as needed if slippage is detected. The car has a top speed of over 300 km/h.

Features on the Gallardo include 19-inch wheels, electronically-controlled rear spoiler, leather interior, premium sound system, automatic door locks, power steering fluid cooler, and multimedia system. Available options include a rear video camera, anti-theft system, heated mirrors, navigation system, heated seats, coloured brake calipers, carbon fibre package, and matching luggage.

The Spyder features a black fabric roof that opens or closes in 20 seconds, controlled by two buttons on the dash. The rear window moves automatically while the top moves, and then returns to the raised position; the window can also be left open while the top is up. Later in the model year, the roof will also be available in blue, grey or beige.
