An all-new model for 2006, the Vantage is Aston Martin’s smallest and least expensive offering, and the company’s only V8-powered car.
The Vantage’s heart is a 380 hp, 4.3-litre V8 that is Aston Martin-designed and built in the company’s engine plant in Germany, and mid-mounted in the vehicle. The Vantage features a lightweight, all-alloy structure, a dry sump lubrication system that allows the engine to sit lower and avoids oil starvation on hard curves, a six-speed manual transmission mounted mid-rear for optimum front-to-rear weight distribution, a low centre of gravity, and a top potential speed of 280 km/h. Acceleration is zero to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds.
Features include ventilated and grooved disc brakes, aluminum gauge cluster, glass starter button, leather or cloth interior, 10-way power seats, automatic climate control, six-CD stereo, three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and battery disconnect switch.
Available options include full leather interior with Alcantara headliner, high intensity discharge headlamps with washers, heated seats, cruise control, reversing sensors, power-fold mirrors, satellite navigation system, alarm upgrade, tire pressure monitoring system, smoker’s package, personalized sill plates, fire extinguisher and first-aid kit.
Beautifully styled and stunningly finished, the Vantage is designed strictly as a sports car, with lightweight engineering, compact footprint, low centre of gravity and fully independent wishbone suspension. The hatchback opens to reveal a cargo area that’s relatively large for a two-seater performance vehicle; throw in your overnight bag and take the curviest route you can find.
