Toronto, Ontario – Ontario-based environmental protection technology company Murrenhil Corporation has launched what it calls the world’s fastest response oil containment system, designed to reach and trap an oil spill within minutes to protecting waterways from ecological disaster.
The company said that more than a dozen oil spills occur every day in Canada, contaminating water supplies, affecting human health, and destroying marine life and coastal wetlands.
The ROC (Rapid Oil Containment) Barrier is deployed from the back of a watercraft at speeds of up to 54 km/h and is over five times faster than conventional oil containment booms. Made in Canada, the ROC Barrier is the only available system small enough to allow watercraft, marinas and other water entry points to store it on site for rapid deployment following an oil spill. The company plans to launch the system internationally later this year.
