Vancouver, British Columbia – Toyota Canada has delivered a Prius Plug-In Hybrid (PHV) to its provincial testing partners in British Columbia.

The BC Institute of Technology, BC Hydro, the City of Vancouver, the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, and the University of Victoria’s Institute for Integrated Energy Systems will share the vehicle’s testing.

“We’re aiming for 15 per cent of all new vehicles to be electric or hybrid over the next decade, which is part of our goal to make Vancouver the greenest city in the world by 2020,” said Gregor Robertson, mayor of Vancouver. “With Vancouver aggressively promoting electric vehicle infrastructure on our streets and in our buildings, the Toyota Prius Plug-In is a welcome addition to our city.”

B.C. is one of four provinces involved in the first phase in a nationwide trial, part of a worldwide global test of the Prius PHV.
