San Francisco, California – Customers at select Best Buy electronics stores in the U.S. will be able to charge their electric vehicles (EVs) through a program with charging station manufacturer ECOtality.
Under the terms of the agreement, ECOtality’s Blink EV stations will be installed at twelve Best Buy stores in Tucson and Phoenix in Arizona; Los Angeles and San Diego in California; and in Seattle, Washington. The stations will be installed by March 2011.
The initial stations will be part of a pilot program to analyze real-world experiences of EV users as part of a charging infrastructure. The companies said that, based on the findings, ECOtality and Best Buy may expand to other store locations.
The Blink Network chargers are fully interactive, and connect to a Web portal that provides users with charge status, statistics, history, billing information and payment options.
