Toronto, Ontario – Canada’s national vehicle recycling program is asking Canadians to “take spring cleaning to the streets.” The Retire Your Ride program offers the opportunity for drivers to retire their vehicles, model year 1995 and older, before the program ends on March 31, 2011.

“It’s time for Canadians to clean up their acts and get rid of their high-polluting cars,” said Fatima Crerar, managing director of Summerhill Impact, the national delivery agent for the program. “Through the Retire Your Ride program, Canadians can choose from a number of rewards that encourage more sustainable methods of transportation if they participate before the March 31st deadline.”

Canadians who retire a vehicle before the end of the program can be rewarded with a number of available incentives, including a discount of $350 off a high-end commuter bicycle, plus 15 per cent off parts and services; free transit passes in some municipalities; car-sharing memberships; and $300 cash. In addition, manufacturer-supported rebates are also available from Chrysler, Hyundai, Ford and General Motors.
