Tokyo, Japan – The Toyota Prius has remained Japan’s top-selling car for five consecutive months, with sales of 31,758 units in September, according to a report by the Green Car Congress.
September sales rose from from 21,669 units in August 2009. The September figure also marks a 341 per cent increase when compared to September 2008. The Prius accounted for 10.8 per cent of total automobile sales in Japan in September 2009.
The Honda Fit was second to the Prius in September, selling 17,241 units, followed by the Toyota Vitz at 12,731. The Honda Insight was fifth, with 10,289 units sold.
