Ottawa, Ontario – Residents of northern and eastern Ontario can safely dispose of their used auto batteries at no charge under CAA North & East Ontario’s eighth annual Great Battery Roundup, which runs Saturday, May 15 to Friday, May 21. The Roundup is open to CAA members and non-members alike.

All proceeds will go to Scoutrees for Canada, a tree planting program by Scouts Canada. Last year’s Roundup raised $2,234 for the program.

“Most people are unaware that used car batteries can be recycled and made into new ones,” said Korey Kennedy, manager of public and government affairs for CAA North & East Ontario (CAANEO). “CAANEO values the importance of being environmentally responsible, and this program not only reminds us all to do our part to protect the environment, but also ensures that all proceeds raised go towards assisting a worthy cause.”

For battery pickup in Ottawa and Thunder Bay, phone CAANEO at 613-820-1400 or 1-800-CAA-HELP.

For drop-off locations in Sudbury, Dryden, Timmins, Parry Sound, North Bay, Pembroke, Renfrew and Cornwall, visit CAANEO.
