100521-01-01Yokohama, Japan – Nissan has started sales of a quick-charger in Japan in preparation for the release of the Leaf electric car. The chargers were developed in-house by Nissan, giving the company a competitive pricing advantage.

Nissan plans to install the 200-volt chargers at 2,200 Nissan dealers nationwide before December 2010. The company will also install 200 at other select dealers.

The company said that for the convenience of Leaf drivers, at least one quick-charge unit will be available within a 40-km radius throughout the country. The chargers are compatible with electric vehicles from other manufacturers as well.
