Laval, Quebec – Montreal-area buses are undergoing upgrades to their design and features, with a blue-and-green colour scheme to signify environmental friendliness, and new visual and sound equipment to help travellers reach their destinations.
The Société de transport de Laval (STL) presented the updated designs yesterday.
On each bus, an alphanumeric display will indicate the name of the upcoming stop and possible connections. The name of the stop will also be mentioned out loud over the public announcement system, with the messages recorded by members of local choirs Les Petits chanteurs de Laval and Les Voix boréales.
The information devices are part of the STL Synchro program, launched earlier this year with the installation of outdoor display units at key stops. The units indicate the exact time that the next bus will arrive.
