Mississauga, Ontario – The all-electric Mitsubishi i-MiEV will drive across the country in its “Clean Across Canada” tour, leaving Signal Hill in St. John’s, Newfoundland on August 17th, and arriving in Vancouver on September 13 for the annual EV (electric vehicle) 2010 Conference and Trade Show. The 28-day trip will cover approximately 7,500 kilometres.

“The i-MiEV is an exciting breakthrough for Mitsubishi in zero tailpipe emissions technology,” said Koji Soga, president of Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada. “Our values of renewable production, clean air technology, alternative fuel and conservation, represented by our tagline ‘Drive @ Earth,’ guide our company and the development of the i-MiEV. The Clean Across Canada tour, a first for Canadians, will showcase the technology and capability of this no-compromise urban vehicle.”

The i-MiEV, already on sale in Japan, will launch in late 2011 in the Canadian market, with pricing to be announced closer to launch. It is expected to travel up to 120 kilometres on a single charge with its 16-kwh lthium-ion battery. During the cross-Canada tour, it will be quickly recharged using an Eaton quick-charging system at one of the many daily activities. The tour is supported by such sponsors as Eaton Canada, Yokohama Tire, Sirius Satellite Radio, Clarion, Bullfrog Power, Hydro Quebec, OPG, Enmax and BC Hydro.
