Montvale, New Jersey – Mercedes-Benz will launch the ML450 Hybrid in the U.S. on November 16, the first European full hybrid vehicle to be available in that country.
Featuring the power of a V8 with four-cylinder fuel consumption, the ML450 Hybrid uses two electric motors and a 275-horsepower V6 gasoline engine.
The ML450 Hybrid, which joins the S400 Hybrid and BlueTEC diesel models under the company’s portfolio of fuel-efficient and environmentally-compatible vehicles, will only be offered for lease, not for purchase. The vehicle will lease for US$659 per month for 36 months, or $549 per month for 60 months.
Working with both electric motors when full power is needed, the ML450 Hybrid has a total system performance of 335 horsepower and 381 lb-ft of torque, and uses a 288-volt nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) battery enclosed under the rear cargo floor.
