Toronto, Ontario – The Lexus LF-Ch compact hybrid concept has made its world premiere at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The new model will also be on display for the first time in North America at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show in December.
The LF-Ch offers dramatic style, premium features, an innovative drivetrain with low emissions, and a sporty hatchback package.
“As the first luxury automaker to offer a full hybrid lineup, Lexus remains a leader in advanced hybrid technology,” said Larry Hutchinson, director of Lexus in Canada. “Entry-level luxury buyers have told us that they are looking for a hybrid option, and their response to the LF-Ch concept will be an important factor in determining whether this vehicle will become a production model.”
The concept was designed by Calty Design Research, Toyota’s North American-based research and design centre in Newport Beach, California.
The LF-Ch is powered by the latest generation of Lexus Hybrid Drive technology, and features a switch that allows the driver to select between Normal, Eco, and EV electric drive, plus a Sport mode that amplifies throttle response for more enthusiastic drivers.
