Seoul, South Korea – Kia Motors has showcased several new models at the Frankfurt Motor Show, including the new Venga B-segment MPV for Europe, new hybrid prototype vehicles, and the company’s EcoDynamics sub-brand.
Included in the unveiling were the restyled Kia Cee’d, the all-new Kia Sorento with up to seven seats, a gasoline-electric Cee’d hybrid prototype, Sorento diesel hybrid prototype, and the first showing in Europe of the new Forte LPI Hybrid sedan, which launched in the Korean market in July.
Unveiled by chief design officer Peter Schreyer, the Venga is the second model, following the Cee’d, to be specifically engineered and designed for the European market. “Venga will certainly deliver all the practicality and versatility that a European family could require,” Schreyer said. “When you combine that with the design of the car, and the confidence it shows, it really is a triumph of form and functionality.”
The new EcoDynamics brand will be applied to the most eco-friendly cars within each Kia model range, as the company progressively introduces innovative fuel- and emissions-saving technologies. In addition to Cee’d models equipped with idle start/stop, future EcoDynamics vehicles will feature technologies such as streamlined body parts, alternative fuel capabilities, high-efficiency transmissions, and hybrid, electric or fuel-cell powertrains.
