Toronto, Ontario – A new competition to find “Canada’s Greenest School” is offering a grand prize of a $200,000 hybrid school bus from IC Bus. The contest encourages students nationwide to describe how they would make their school “green.”
Students can compete for the title by visiting Canada’sGreenestSchool to submit a photo collection, music, video, essay, photos of a diorama, collage, or piece of artwork illustrating their vision of how they’d make their school a greener place. Ideal solutions for creating a greener school including setting up in-school recycling programs, keeping lights turned off when not in use, using environmentally-smart landscaping, and encouraging students to ride school buses instead of arriving in private cars.
The submission should describe how the school shows its commitment to going green, how it teaches students the value of green living, its dedication to green transportation, or how it embodies the spirit of a greener planet.
IC Bus will select ten Canadian finalists, who will then be judged by online voting. The winner will be announced in the last week of May 2010.
The winning entrant’s school will receive a hybrid school bus from IC Bus, valued at $200,000, which is up to 65 per cent more fuel efficient than a standard school bus. The school will also receive a “green” audit by a LEED accredited professional, and $3,000 will be put towards the student’s education.
