Detroit, Michigan – General Motors will not produce the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid for 2010 due to overstock of the 2009 model, according to a report by the Green Car Congress. The report said that a limited amount of 2010 Malibu Hybrids may be produced to fulfill fleet sales requests.

Service and warranty of existing models will be unaffected, as the company has an adequate supply of replacement components, including the battery packs.

The Malibu Hybrid shares components with the Saturn Aura and Saturn Vue Hybrids, but the report said that while General motors is committed to delivering 2010 Aura and Vue models as part of its pending agreement with Penske Automotive Group, which is expected to buy Saturn, no decision has been made on whether hybrid versions of the Saturn models will be offered for 2010.
