Detroit, Michigan – General Motors has increased U.S. production capacity of the Volt extended-range electric car, citing strong public interest in the new vehicle. The company will increase capacity from 30,000 to 45,000 units in 2012.
Earlier this week, GM announced that the Volt will retail for US$41,000 before any federal tax credits. Canadian pricing has not been announced.
Dealers in launch markets in the U.S. began taking customer orders this week. The car will initially go on sale in Texas, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, California, Michigan, and Washington, D.C.
