Seoul, South Korea – Kia Motors has presented the world premiere of its electric POP concept car at the Paris Auto Show, along with the redesigned Kia Optima and new engine versions of the Sportage.
The chrome-coloured, three-metre-long, three-seater POP is a fully-electric, zero-emissions car powered by compact lithium-polymer gel batteries that fully recharge in six hours. Top speed is 140 km/h with a maximum range of 160 km on a single charge.
Kia also hosted the European debut of the all-new Optima sedan (known as Magentis in Canada), with Europe-specific high-tech powertrains: Kia’s new “U2” 1.7-litre diesel engine and “Nu” 2.0-litre gasoline engine.
The Sportage lineup is being expanded to offer two smaller-capacity engines: the 1.7-litre U2 diesel and a 1.6-litre “Gamma” gasoline engine.
