Anaheim, California – Honda has delivered a hydrogen-powered Honda FCX Clarity fuel cell electric vehicle to its latest customer, 2010 Canadian Olympic hockey team captain Scott Niedermayer, in California.
Niedermayer, a four-time Stanley Cup champion, captain of the Anaheim Ducks and an environmentalist, becomes the first professional athlete to lease an FCX.
“My love for nature and the outdoors developed while growing up in Canada and I hope the generations after me get to experience nature as I have,” Niedermayer said. “Everyday actions, like driving the zero-emissions Honda FCX Clarity, will help to make this dream a reality.”
Niedermayer, a native of Cranbook, B.C., lives with his wife and four sons in Orange County, California. He carpools to games with fellow teammates and promotes a recycling program around his team’s dressing room.
