Tokyo, Japan – Toyota has begun production and sales of the Camry Hybrid sedan in China, through GAC Toyota Motor (GTMC), its joint vehicle production and sales company with Guangzhou Automobile Group.

Sales will begin at 107 of GTMC’s dealers, but plans are for the hybrid to eventually expand to the entire dealer network.

More than 500,000 non-hybrid Camry sedans have been sold in China between its launch in June 2006 and the end of February 2010. The company launched the Prius in China in 2005, followed by the Lexus LS600h and RX400h in 2007, and the Lexus GS450h in 2009.
