Sacramento, California – California’s Air Resources Board (ARB) has renewed its grant program for hybrid vehicle technology for a second year. The grants, totalling US$19 million, provide vouchers to help California fleets purchase fuel-efficient hybrid medium- and heavy-duty trucks and buses.
“This program created an opportunity for California businesses to upgrade their trucks and proves that there is a demand for technology that provides clean and fuel-efficient vehicles,” said ARB executive officer James Goldstene.
Public and private fleets can reserve vouchers for up to $40,000 at the time the vehicle is ordered, with the voucher redeemed at the time of purchase.
Last year, ARB provided almost $20 million to help California fleets purchase over 650 hybrid trucks and buses. Almost half the vouchers were for urban beverage delivery vehicles, and about 20 per cent for package delivery vehicles.
