Vancouver, British Columbia – Vancouver’s city council has unanimously approved new regulations that will require electric vehicle charging stations in new condominium and apartment buildings, according to the Green Car Congress.
A report by CBC News said that under the plan, at least 20 per cent of parking stalls in new condominium and apartment buildings must include plug-in charging outlets for electric vehicles, as well as some city-owned parking lots.
The city council doubled an original proposal that would have required only 10 per cent of stalls to have the charging infrastructure.
Developers are being given a grace period of 18 months before the charging outlets are required.
