Frankfurt, Germany – Renault has unveiled four electric vehicle concepts at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and has released further details on the future infrastructure and technology behind them. All of the concepts preview the company’s electric vehicle range, which will be released from 2011 for a wide variety of different customers and uses.
The company presented the Twizy Z.E. Concept, with 20-horsepower motor and footprint barely larger than a scooter; the Zoe Z.E. Concept, a compact four-seat super-mini for short daily journeys in urban areas; the Fluence Z.E. Concept, an electric version of the all-new five-seat Fluence sedan, ahead of production for the Israeli market with Project Better Place; and the Kangoo Z.E. Concept, which previews an electric van for fleet and commercial use, with solar roof panels and a heated steering wheel.
The company also showed Quickdrop, which allows drivers to replace their batteries within three minutes at rapid exchange stations.
Renault will begin marketing affordable production electric vehicles in 2011, with the Renault-Nissan Alliance aiming to become the leader in mass-market zero-emission vehicle sales.
