Toronto, Ontario – Toyota Canada is reminding consumers that, in the wake of U.S. reports involving recalled vehicles, the circumstances surrounding the recalls in Canada and the United States are different.
The company said that over the last few months, it has been diligent in working with dealers to provide the necessary support in processing vehicle repairs, and has communicated the specific details of recalls affecting Canadian customers, both through the media and by direct communication with customers.
Specifically, Toyota said that Prius and Tundra recall campaigns that have been reported in some Canadian media outlets are not new, but were previously announced in late 2009. As well, in Canada, letters have been issued to all affected customers and repairs on the vehicles are underway.
