Trollhättan, Sweden – Saab Automobile AB has sold the Saab 9-3, the current 9-5, and powertrain technology and tooling to Beijing Automotive Industry Holdings (BAIC). The company will move the current 9-5 tooling to China, where it will be used to make BAIC vehicles.

Saab said that it will assist BAIC in integrating the powertrain technology into BAIC vehicles.

“This arrangement is excellent for both parties, now and for the future,” said Jan Åke Jonsson, managing director of Saab Automobile. “We have developed a good relationship with BAIC and look forward to working with them to integrate this Saab technology into their future vehicles.”
