New supercharged HEMI V8 would make Charger model most powerful sedan in the world

During FCA’s May Investor Conference, executives from the company confirmed a new supercharged SRT version of the facelifted Charger. After the news of this week revealed the new Hellcat V8 would produce 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, the new engine would make the Charger SRT Hellcat the most powerful production car in the world.

While we know it’s coming, we aren’t 100 percent sure when it will arrive. AutoGuide is saying it could be as soon as this fall.

A Charger SRT Hellcat would get the same eight-speed automatic of the Challenger SRT Hellcat as the sole gear-swapping choice and hopefully without a detuned version of the 6.2-litre supercharged HEMI V8. A six-speed manual version isn’t expected to happen.
