Mid-cycle refresh to debut in Detroit or Chicago

Fans of the oddball Hyundai Veloster have a reason to celebrate if they’re looking to get into the Turbo model in the next couple of years.

After the refreshed model breaks cover in either Detroit or Chicago next year, it is expected to be offered up with a brand new seven-speed dual clutch gearbox.

That’s good news for those looking for a little more performance out of the three-doored performance hatchback as the current six-speed automatic leaves much to be desired. A dual clutch transmission should improve the speed and crispness of shifts while also allowing owners to do quick shifts on their own with paddles affixed to the steering wheel.

The Korean Car Blog also posits a few other changes we should see for the refreshed Veloster, including improved NVH, wider rubber, standard HID headlights, and sport bucket seats for Turbo models.

We will have full coverage from the Detroit and Chicago auto shows early next year.
