Mississauga, Ontario – Porsche will introduce the next-generation Cayenne SUV, including a hybrid gasoline-electric version, to the North American market at the New York International Automobile Show on March 31.
The Canadian Cayenne model range will include the 2011 Cayenne S and Turbo, which will go on sale in July, and the Cayenne and Cayenne S Hybrid, which will arrive at dealers this fall.
The new models feature more distinct shapes and highlights, with longer overall length and wheelbase, but with compact and dynamic styling. A special combination of materials and changes in the overall vehicle concept, including a new all-wheel drive system, results in a weight reduction on all models. The Cayenne S is almost 185 kilograms lighter, which improves fuel consumption, lowers emissions, and boosts performance, agility and handling.
The Cayenne S Hybrid features a sophisticated parallel fill hybrid system. With a combined power output of 380 horsepower from the supercharged 3.0-litre V6 engine and an electric motor, the Cayenne S Hybrid combines the performance of a V8 with the economy of a V6. Depending on driving conditions, the vehicle can run on either gasoline or electricity, or a combination of the two.
Other models making their New York debuts at the show include the 2011 Boxster Spyder, 2011 911 Turbo Cabriolet, and the Porsche Panamera Gran Turismo.
