Mississauga, Ontario – Porsche will debut its new 911 GT3 RS at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, featuring greater engine power, lower weight, shorter transmission ratios, and upgraded body and suspension elements.

The GT3 RS uses a new engine, based on the flat-six introduced earlier this year in the 911 GT3, and displacing 3.8 litres. A 15-horsepower increase over the regular GT3 gives a maximum output of 450 horsepower, and a specific output of more than 118 horsepower per litre. It comes exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox with shorter and more aggressive gears than the 911 GT3.

To further improve handling, the new 911 GT3 RS will come with a purpose-built Porsche Active Suspension Management system with wider front and rear tracks, with a wider rear body and additional front wheel arch covers. Other features include a low ride height, centre-locking wheels, an extra-large carbon-fibre rear wing with forged aluminum wing supports, extra-light titanium exhaust, and special graphics.

The new 911 GT3 RS goes on sale in Canada in March 2010, at a base price of $163,000.
