Montreal, Quebec – The new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG “Gullwing” has made its Canadian debut at the Montreal International Auto Show, delivering a compelling mix of purist styling, lightweight design and superior driving dynamics.
The new super sports car features an aluminum spaceframe body with gullwing doors, AMG 6.2-litre V8 engine developing 563 horsepower with dry sump lubrication, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, sport suspension, and a curb weight of only 1,620 kg. The Gullwing accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, on its way to an electronically-controlled top speed of 317 km/h.
The new SLS AMG reinterprets the lines of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, one of the outstanding design icons of the brand, with its gullwing doors, wide radiator grille with large star, and wing-shaped cross fins.
Interior features include sports seat backrest made from lightweight magnesium, three-spoke performance steering wheel, and two-tone upholstery.
The Gullwing is scheduled to go on sale in the spring of 2010, at a starting price of $198,000.
