2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
Toronto, Ontario – The new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has made its regional premiere at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto. The new super sports car delivers a compelling mix of purist styling, including its “gull wing” doors, with lightweight design and superior driving dynamics.
The new model features an aluminum space frame body, AMG 6.2-litre V8 engine developing 563 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque with dry sump lubrication, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, sports suspension, and a curb weight of only 1,620 kg (3,573 lbs). It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, en route to an electronically limited top speed of 317 km/h.
The SLS marks the first time Mercedes-Benz and AMG have presented a car with an aluminum chassis and body. The newly developed body shell comprises an aluminum space frame, which combines lightweight design with outstanding strength.
