Mississauga, Ontario – Porsche will release a limited edition of its 911 Speedster, paying homage to the original 356 Speedster. The new model, which will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October, will be limited to 356 cars worldwide, with 15 of them in Canada.
The concept was developed by Porsche Exclusive, a division devoted to the individual customization of Porsche production cars for customers, as well as the creation of limited-run models. The 911 Speedster also celebrates the 25th anniversary of the department.
Following in the footsteps of the 911 Sport Classic, which was not offered in Canada, the Speedster features almost all optional equipment from the 911 series as standard, along with many design features not available on other 911 models.
The Speedster comes exclusively as a two-seater, with lower windshield, double-bubble hard cover for the soft top, wider rear wheel arches, unique front and rear apron and specific side skirts. Interior changes include checkered-flag patterns in the power-adjustable seats, and leather side bolsters and trim pieces that match the exterior colour. The 3.8-litre flat-six engine is fitted with Porsche’s Exclusive Powerkit, delivering 23 more horsepower than a 911 Carrera S, at 408 horsepower.
The fifteen cars in Canada will be available starting in early 2011, at a price of $245,900.
