2010 Lexus RX
Los Angeles, California – Lexus has unveiled the all-new, next-generation RX 350 and RX 450h hybrid at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The RX is completely redesigned, with improved powertrains, new technologies, and enhanced styling and performance.
Entering its second generation, the RX 450h will use an enhanced Lexus Hybrid Drive system with 3.5-litre V6 gasoline engine that runs on a highly efficient Atkinson cycle. Combined with a new, more efficient inverter, the total system output will be 295 horsepower, which is 27 hp more than the current-generation RX hybrid. The new model also includes a new exhaust-heat recovery system that reduces engine warmup time, allowing it to stop earlier, more often and for longer periods, and a cooled exhaust-gas recirculation system that reduces engine pumping losses for improved fuel economy.
The third-generation RX 350 will use an improved, 275-horsepower, 3.5-litre V6 mated to an electrically-controlled, sequential-shift six-speed transaxle. The all-wheel drive version will feature an Active Torque Control AWD system that optimizes torque depending on driving conditions.
Both RX models feature a new double-wishbone rear suspension that provides improved agility and control, along with five per cent more cargo volume and easier loading.
New, Lexus-first technologies on the new models include an available Hard Disk Drive navigation system with all-new “Remote Touch” controller, and XM satellite radio with XM NavTraffic and new NavWeather features. Available options will include an exclusive Mark Levinson Surround Sound system, dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system, dynamic radar cruise control, and Sports Package with tuned suspension.
Styling includes standard 18-inch or optional 19-inch alloy wheels, larger dimensions, improved overall aerodynamics, and unique styling features for the RX 450h, including an exclusive grille, unique front bumper, blue-tinted headlamps and taillamps, and optional LED headlamps and 19-inch wheel designs.
The 2010 RX 350 will go on sale in February, with the RX 450h in dealerships later in the spring.
