Say goodbye to the IS F

If you have been saving your money over the last few years to pick up a brand new IS F, I’m sorry, but you’ve waited one year two long.

But, if an IS 250 or 350 tickles your fancy, there’s certainly a lot of choice with some welcomed upgrades.

Lexus has announced their sport sedan will start with a base price of $37,500 for 2015, an increase of $200 over last year. However, there is a significant expansion in available packages within each IS model.

All models will now be equipped with standard LED fog lamps, while F Sport packages are expanded to offer three different levels of equipment. Models equipped with F Sport equipment will also receive front sport seats with heating and ventilation and F Sport trunk badges.

Other upgrades include a new centre console kneepad, new interior trim, and an enhanced backup camera with new dynamic grid lines.

On the flip side of all this good news, the IS F will be completely dropped from the IS line up, as the 2014 model was built atop the previous-generation IS. It shouldn’t be too much of a concern for those looking for power, as the 2015 Lexus RC F coupe will easily fill the gap unless you’re dead-set on a sedan.

Engines continue on unchanged from last year: IS250 models are powered by the aging 204-hp 2.5-litre V6 while IS350 models receive the venerable 306-hp 3.5-litre V6.
