New baby Jeep to be built alongside Fiat 500X in Italy

Over the weekend, Jalopnik released some leaked photos of what was thought to be the new Jeepster. Instead, the new baby Jeep will be called Renegade and it’ll be built alongside the new Fiat 500X.

The Renegade, which will be revealed at the Geneva International Auto Show tomorrow and streamed live on the Jeep website, will be the first small SUV to offer a nine-speed transmission and an “open-air” model will be available as well. It’ll sit atop the “Small Wide” platform used by both Chrysler and Fiat.

All-wheel drive is expected to be standard on the Renegade with a Trailhawk Trail Rated trim at the top. Multiple MultiJet II and MultiAir engines will be equipped in the new model, though their displacements won’t be known until after tomorrow’s reveal.
