New York, New York – Jeep has introduced the all-new 2011 Grand Cherokee at the New York International Auto Show. The new version of the iconic SUV combines real-world capability and on-road refinement, with up to 11 per cent improved fuel economy and a world-class interior cabin.

“We listened carefully to our customers and the market,” said Scott Kunselman, vice-president of Jeep/Truck Product Team. “Our all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee hits the sweet spot of premium on-road performance and legendary class-leading Jeep capability.”

The new Grand Cherokee is built on a proven, rear-wheel drive unibody platform, and shares the same underpinnings as the Mercedes-Benz ML. Its new Quadra-Lift air suspension delivers legendary Jeep off-road capability, along with a new Selec-Terrain system that allows the driver to choose the drive system that best matches on- or off-road driving conditions. New front and rear independent suspension systems deliver premium on-road handling and comfort.

The Quadra-Lift suspension features five height settings for optium ride performance, including normal ride height of 8.1 inches (205 mm), Off-Road 1 that lifts it to a ground clearance of 9.6 inches (243 mm), Off-Road 2 that lifts it to 11.1 inches (281 mm), a Park Mode that lowers it from normal ride height for easy access, and an Aero Mode, controlled by vehicle speed, which lowers it for optimal performance and fuel economy. The Selec-Terrain system has settings for Sand/Mud, Sport, Auto, Snow, and Rock.

Three available 4×4 systems include Quadra-Tac I, which delivers full-time four-wheel drive with no switches or levers to pull; Quadra-Trac II, which uses input from a variety of sensors to determine tire slip and take corrective action; and Quadra Drive II, with a rear electronic limited-slip differential for industry-leading tractive capability.

In North America, the Jeep Grand Cherokee will be available with a standard flexible-fuel 3.6-litre V6 engine, or available 5.7-litre Hemi V8, delivering 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque.

Other standard or available features include a dual-pane sunroof, power liftgate, 17-, 18- or 20-inch wheels, and Trailer Sway Control.
