Mississauga, Ontario – Infiniti will unveil its first hybrid performance luxury sedan at the 2011 Canadian International Auto Show in February. The 2012 Infiniti M35h will offer 360 horsepower and an estimated fuel economy of 5.8 L/100 km, and will go on sale this spring.
“With industry-leading horsepower and fuel economy, the M Hybrid raises the bar for luxury and performance in a hybrid, and we’re excited to make the Canadian debut in Toronto,” said Wendy Durward, director of Infiniti Canada. “Driving a hybrid no longer requires compromise. With Infiniti you can have it all.”
The M35h uses a 3.5-litre V6 engine paired with a 50 kW electric motor to provide a hybrid system net power of 360 horsepower. The vehicle can drive on electric power alone at speeds of up to 100 km/h and can travel on electric propulsion for up to 1.9 kilometres. Tests have shown that in mixed driving, the M35h is able to drive in electric-only mode for as much as 50 per cent of the time.
The all-new Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid system uses a one-motor, two-clutch parallel design that combines precise high-speed motor control technology with a lithium-ion battery and seven-speed automatic transmission.
