Toronto, Ontario – A kick-off to the Honda Indy in Toronto has raised $1,000 for a charity that supports Canadian soldiers wounded during overseas duty.
The team of Daria Lennon and Jason Emata from Maclean’s/Rogers defeated 15 other Toronto-area media teams in the Honda Pit Stop Challenge in downtown Toronto. The two presented a $1,000 charitable donation to Wounded Warriors, which raises funds to support existing programs that tend to soldiers. The charity has raised over $400,000 in three years.
On hand at the event was Canadian race driver Paul Tracy, who will make his fifth IndyCar start in the Toronto race on July 10-12, 2009.
