From 16 contenders and six finalists, the Accord Hybrid comes out on top at Green Living Show in Toronto

Today, at the Green Living Show at Toronto’s Direct Energy Centre, the Honda Accord Hyrbid was bestowed with the Canadian Green Car Award, selected by a number of Canada’s top automotive journalists.

The Accord beat out five other finalists, including the Volkswagen Jetta Turbo Hybrid, Nissan LEAF, Ford C-MAX Energi, Mazda3 2.0-litre, and Mazda 5, all of which either won or tied in their respective categories.

The award was presented to Dave Gardner, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Honda Canada.

In 2013, the first year of the awards, the Ford Fusion Hybrid was given the winner trophy.

Autos.ca contributors Jonathan Yarkony, Michael Bettencourt, Steven Bochenek, and Dan Heyman made up part of the judging panel.

The Green Living Show runs until April 27th.
