Detroit, Michigan – Automotive industry publication, Automotive News, reports that General Motors is cancelling the Pontiac G8 sport truck which it had planned to import from its Holden division in Australia.

The rear-wheel drive G8 sport truck, similar in concept to the old El Camino, was unveiled at the 2008 New York auto show.

According to a GM spokesperson, the G8 didn’t fit into GM’s future vision of Pontiac as a maker of sporty, fun-to-drive cars.
