OAKVILLE, Ont., – For the first time ever in Canada, an automaker has sold more than 100,000 trucks in a single year, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited announced today. A record-breaking 100,000th F-Series pick-up truck was recently sold to George Taylor in Kingston, Ontario.
To celebrate this unprecedented milestone, Ford of Canada will donate $10,000 to the charity selected by Taylor and will cover the cost of all maintenance and fuel for the first 100,000 kilometres on his truck.
“The F-Series has been Canada’s favourite truck for 46 consecutive years, but we have never sold 100,000 F-Series in a single year before,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO at Ford of Canada.
One-hundred thousand F-Series trucks, lined up end-to-end would stretch right across the width of Alberta. And 100,000 F-Series trucks could carry more than 68,000,000 bricks or transport more than 5,000,000 bales of hay.
“Each year our customers from coast-to-coast tell us how important their Ford trucks are to their daily lives. It’s our customers who have helped us design and build a great truck,” said Craig. “We’re humbled by their ongoing support and loyalty to ‘built Ford tough’.”
With this week’s historic sale, Ford of Canada has sold more than 2,755,788 F-Series (and counting) over the last 46 years in Canada. The F-Series is now on track to become the best-selling truck in Canada for the 47th consecutive year and the best-selling vehicle in Canada for a third year in a row.
Taylor purchased his first F-Series at Braden Ford in Kingston, Ontario. He has selected the SickKids Foundation to receive a $10,000 donation from Ford of Canada in his name. The donation will go towards enhancing patient care and research to discover new treatments and cures.
“I had heard a lot of great stories from colleagues about the service at James Braden Ford, so when I was looking to buy a truck I decided to stop by and see what they had. I fell in love with the F-150 immediately,” said George Taylor, purchaser of the 100,000th Ford F-series. “When I got the call that I had bought the 100,000th truck this year I was blown away. And being able to donate to the SickKids Foundation was an added bonus. This has been an amazing experience.”
