Montreal, Quebec – The top three finalists for the 2011 Canadian Car of the Year and Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year have been named at the Montreal International Auto Show. The awards are presented by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC).
The finalists for Canadian Car of the Year are the Chevrolet Cruze, Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Jetta TDI Clean Diesel, while finalists for the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year are the Ford Edge, Hyundai Tucson and Volkswagen Touareg.
The finalists for Best New design are the Audi R8 Spyder, Jaguar XJ Supercharged and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
The winners will be declared on Thursday, February 17 at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.
The finalists were selected from eleven category winners at AJAC’s annual “TestFest,” where 70 of Canada’s top automotive journalists spent four days in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario conducting back-to-back comparative testing of 144 all-new or significantly new 2011 vehicles. The results were determined from more than 40,000 individual data points established in the testing program, including performance data and subjective ratings.
