Ottawa, ON. – Transport Canada has released its latest recalls, which may affect some Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Lotus and Ram models.
Chevrolet
Units Affected - 412
Malibu: 2013
Certain vehicles fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 102 – Transmission Control Functions. The console shift indicator, in rare circumstances, may not illuminate the shift position selected and the positions in relation to each other during a key cycle. The illumination returns with a new key cycle. Correction: Since this non-compliance condition does not pose any safety risk, no corrective action is required.
Chrylser
Units Affected - 90
200: 2013
Certain vehicles may experience fuel leakage or engine stall due to a broken control valve in the fuel tank assembly. Engine stalling would result in lost vehicle propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver’s reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect the control valve in the fuel tank. If the control valve is damaged, the fuel tank assembly and vapour canister will be replaced.
Chrysler
Units Affected - 63,201
Aspen: 2009
On certain vehicles, the rear axle pinion nut could loosen and allow the rear driveshaft to detach from the axle, or fully detach from the vehicle. Pinion nut separation could also cause the rear axle differential to fail suddenly, causing rear wheel lockup. These issues could result in loss of propulsion, danger to other road users, loss of vehicle control and possible crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install a pinion nut retainer.
Dodge
Units Affected - 90
Avenger: 2013

On certain vehicles, the engine oil cooler lines could fail, causing an oil leak. Oil may contact a hot engine or exhaust component, which could result in a fire. Oil may also be sprayed onto the tires and/or brakes, which could adversely affect vehicles stability. As well, engine oil spilt on the roadway could endanger other road users by making the roadway unexpectedly slippery. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the engine oil cooler lines. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2011390 for vehicles not previously included in the campaign.
Ram
