New compact CUV below SRX still on target

Until today, it was widely rumoured Cadillac would be expanding their line of utilities in order to cash in on current trends and recent successes. Two new utilities – one above and one below the SRX – were reportedly planned for the crested marque.

According to Ward’s Auto, the larger of the two planned models no longer looks like a possibility.

The large, three-row unibody crossover could have used the Escalade nameplate and would have been based on the Lambda platform underpinning the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, and Chevrolet Traverse.

It may be a case of Cadillac seeing slowing growth in the segment or the Cadillac product being a little too close for comfort to other crossovers within GM’s portfolio.

However, a smaller crossover under the SRX seems to still be on target.
