Herndon, Virginia – The all-new 2011 Audi A8 and the GMC Granite concept vehicle took top honours at the EyesOn Design awards at the North American International Auto Show.
The A8 won in the best production vehicle design debut category. The Detroit show was the car’s initial appearance at a world auto show, following its global unveiling in Miami last November.
The GMC Granite took its award in the concept category. The other finalists were the Nissan Mixim, Revenge Verde Supercar, and Audi eTron concept.
The EyesOn Design Awards honour the most significant automotive designs on display at the Detroit show; to be eligible, the vehicles must debut during the show. It is presented by the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology (DIO) and is an extension of the DIO’s annual EyesOn Design car show, held each June. Funds raised by both EyesOn Design events support the DIO’s mission to assist and educate the visually impaired, help preserve vision by public and professional education, and support research related to the eye.
